Joe Ngai is a Principal in McKinsey & Company's Hong Kong office, where he leads the Private Equity/Principal Investor practice, as well as co-leads McKinsey's Insurance and Asset Management practice in Asia. Since 2002, he has focused on serving leading financial institutions across Asia, as well as leading Private Equity investors in their Asia investments. His recent experiences at McKinsey include:

Before joining McKinsey, Mr. Ngai worked as an executive director at Aptium Partners (now part of Cowen Group), a boutique financial advisory firm catering to mid-market companies in Asia (especially China). Previously, he also co-founded an IT systems integration company and led its development to 200 employees across Asia.

Mr. Ngai received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, his J.D. from Harvard Law School, and his A.B. in economics, Phi Beta Kappa, from Harvard University. He was a member of the New York Bar Association. He sits on the Steering Committee of Youth Business HK, a non-profit organization targeted at funding youth entrepreneurs, and he is also a founding member of Social Ventures Hong Kong, a non-profit pioneer in promoting and investing in social enterprises in Hong Kong. He is a native speaker in Cantonese, and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and English.
