Michael Leung was appointed Senior VP & CIO of Bank of America (Asia), now renamed China Construction Bank (Asia), in March 2000. In this capacity, he manages the bank's IT functions in their entirety, including system development, project management, production system support, and data centre operations.
Mr. Leung has over 26 years' experience in IT, focusing largely in the banking and finance industry. Before joining Bank of America, he held senior management positions at Standard Chartered Bank and Dao Heng Bank (now DBS), responsible for devising new business models and distribution channels for retail and commercial banking products and services.
Prior to his banking assignments, Mr. Leung was a managing consultant at IBM, Price Waterhouse and Computer Sciences Australia. After completing his post-graduate studies, he spent nearly ten years with the Dutch Philips Data Systems, where he was involved in the development and pre-sales support of banking terminals and transactions processing systems.
Mr. Leung holds a Master's degree in Engineering from The Netherlands Universities Foundation and a Bachelor of Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Included in his professional and managerial training are resident sessions at London Business School, IBM Advanced Business Institute, and the Graduate School of Bank Management at the University of Virginia USA.
